Exercise
February 27, 2007
I seriously believe that driving used to be a form of exercise in the early days; say the 30s (dah ada kereta kan time tu?) till the 80s.
Imagine having NO power steering, huffing and puffing to turn the steering wheel 6 whole bloody rounds to U-turn your box huge car. Waaaaaa what nice biceps and triceps you have!! Thanks, I drive an Aston Martin made in 1929. Imagine the clutch as high as your knee and having to forcefully push it down (konon no springs la) everytime you shift the gear. Wow, your left leg is so much noticeably bigger that your right! Oh thanks, don’t worry they’ll be the same soon, I just increased the spring on my accelerator paddle.
You guys ever tried driving the good ‘ol Nissan Sunny from the 80s era? To me (yeah I ain’t that old pun) THAT was the heaviest car I ever had to drive!!! With hard to press accelerators, tight gear shaft (yeah stop that thought. NOW), rusted-springy-feel clutches and NO power steering. That car, when I was 18, felt super duper heavy and large.
This particular thought came to me when my clutch set got spoilt and caused me great pain to press the clutch and to shift gears. Yeah I still drive a stick and I’m proud of it bebeh! AT THE SAME TIME, my power steering oil holder thing (hehe not too sure what it’s called. power steering oil tank??) suffered some leaks at the tubes and caused me to huff and puff when trying to turn the car. 90 degrees was bad enough, 180 degrees takes about 5 minutes. Great exercise. Nasib baik tak terberanak. Although the car is just a small 1.3 hatchback.
Total damage: RM500++. Damnnnn.
